Recreational Vehicles (RV, Boat, Motorcycle, ATV, Snowmobile)
You have invested time and money into you recreational vehicle, so protect your investment with an insurance policy. If you plan to operate your vehicle on public roads, land, and in state waters, you may have to carry insurance to legally operate your vehicle. Policies for RVs, boats, motorcycles, ATVs, and snowmobiles are generally individual policies, but they can be bundled with your existing policies for a better rate.
For an RV in Pennsylvania, you are required to carry a policy that includes medical benefits for you and your passengers, bodily injury liability for anyone else if you are at fault in an accident, and property damage liability if you are at fault and damage someone else’s property. If you are on the road frequently, you may want additional coverage.
Boat insurance is a good idea for any motorized watercraft, including jet skis, sailboats, and pontoon boats. An accident can cause injury to persons involved, but it can also cost you thousands of dollars in repair work. Look for a policy that includes liability for bodily injury and property damage, property coverage for your boat and trailer, property coverage for any loose items you take (beneficial for fisherman who use high tech equipment), medical coverage for you and passengers, and towing coverage.
Motorcycle accidents often cause injury due to the speed and unprotected nature of the vehicle. If you drive on roadways, you must have insurance. The law requires you to carry liability insurance at a minimum, but we strongly suggest you also invest in medical expenses coverage to protect you and any passengers in addition to uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
Snowmobiles and ATVs
ATV insurance is not currently required, but snowmobile insurance is. Holding insurance for your recreational equipment can save you thousands of dollars in medical treatment and protect your investment. For both types of activities, purchase a liability policy at the very least to cover yourself if someone else or his or her property is damaged by your activity. Medical coverage and property insurance can also be beneficial to help you cover the cost of damage and injury if you have an accident, even on your own property.
